Bold Exterior

Black paint with charcoal trim adds drama and transforms the exterior of this contemporary home built in 1974, previously painted a neutral tan brown color. “To make sure the house fit in with the really nice modern homes up in this part of the country, we wanted to go with a black exterior,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Wow-Worthy Garage

This wider view shows the garage’s close proximity to the front door of the home, and the new full view glass doors on the garage.

From:

Expansive and Spacious

The garage is one of the largest designer Brian Patrick Flynn has ever dealt with. Using muted gray-green paint also found in the home’s closets, he broke the space into functional areas that inspire creativity. Here, creative workstations are surrounded by art and create the perfect at-home studio.

From:

Industrial Chic

Glass and metal framed garage doors enhance the industrial accents in the massive space while keeping the space bright and airy with natural light.

From:

Dramatic Entrance

The new anodized aluminum swing front door with glass panels allows natural light inside and offers a look at the amazing views enjoyed from this home’s waterfront location. Large black porcelain pavers line the steps up to the front door and help define the entry.

From:

Strong Lines

Large glass doors with black frames fill the space with light while also subtly referencing the homes dark exterior. Paired with the crisp white walls the effect is like eyeliner for the home while accentuating the beautiful views.

From:

Open Concept Living

The open floor plan for the living area and dining space finds unity in the bright white color palette with sea green and pink accents. The soft colors draw focus on the real showstopper, floor-to-ceiling views of Puget Sound.

From:

Industrial Influence

A custom painted sign for Chinook Bait and Tackle from artist Celery Jones evokes a reclaimed storefront sign from nearby Gig Harbor. Industrial style pendant lights are inspired by lights you would find on a pier or dock adding a coastal feel to the space.

From:

Grand Great Room

The great room of this harbor home feels spacious and airy with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the Puget Sound. Painting the room in crisp white provides a bright backdrop for the large iron chandelier that anchors the sitting area.

From:

Crisp White Kitchen

This wide view of the kitchen highlights the open layout and the beautiful stairwell with custom-made railing. The stairwell connects the home’s three levels and replaces an existing staircase enclosed in dry wall. “It was like a big dinosaur in the room,” says project manager Scott Branscom. “The stairs also separated the kitchen from the living room and blocked your view.”

From:

Clutter-Free Look

The extra pantry storage space helps keep this contemporary kitchen’s sleek counters free from clutter.

From:

Indoor and Outdoor Living

The kitchen shares an easy connection with the main floor deck outside, that looks directly over the water and includes a modern table and chairs for leisurely meals outdoors.

From:

Pastel Gallery

Clean white walls and whitewashed floors combine to make the perfect at home gallery. The soft pinks and blues found in the painting echo the color palette found in the rest of the great room.

Powder Room Appeal

This view into the powder room from the hallway highlights the first look that greets guests, and the coordinated look of the space.

From:

Pink and Navy Terrace Bedroom

An elegant platform bed upholstered in rich navy velvet anchors this bedroom with walls painted a very faint shade of millennial pink. The room combines interesting textures, coastal-inspired art and industrial elements that fit the locale.

From:

Closet Case

A custom closet with a combination of hanging rods, drawers and handy shelves offers a well-organized space for storing clothes, hats, shoes and more.

From:

Bedroom and Bath Duo

This view from the bathroom to the adjoining millennial pink bedroom with the frosted glass door open shows the cohesive look of both spaces with touches of coastal style. A teepee framed painting print seen here on the bathroom wall behind the open door is an example of the colorful accents in the space.

From:

Coastal Mirror

A feminine and playful water hyacinth wall mirror above the vanity has a round shape and wide woven frame in a weathered white finish that reflects the room’s coastal flair.

From:

Spa-Like Experience

The bathroom’s inviting walk-in shower offers an immersive spa-like experience, with the latest in shower technology.

From:

Master Suite Retreat

Neutral tones of moss, gray, brown, and blue create a relaxing and playful retreat in the master bedroom. The natural elements balance with the custom painted “Visit Washington” mural that gives the space a vintage Northwestern vibe.

From:

Effortless Relaxation

The master bedroom’s lounge area is anchored with a grey Midcentury modern sofa that creates a space to relax with a book or simply enjoy the panoramic views.

From:

Neat and Nautical

A walk-in closet with ample storage means you can rest easy at the end of the day knowing there is more than enough room for everything from professional work-wear to weekend adventure gear.

From:

Serene Master Bathroom

Platinum gray cabinets add a handsome touch to this bright and airy master bathroom.

From:

Northwestern Gallery

Instead of leaving the wall above the staircase that leads into the third floor master suite, the space is converted into a gallery wall showcasing everything from photography to sea-inspired sculpture. Natural light from the adjacent window highlights the art and keeps the space feeling bright and airy.

Downstairs Den

Ideal for watching the big game, catching up with friends, or just relaxing and enjoying the views, the multipurpose den adds comfortable living space to this 4-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom waterfront home.

From:

Relaxed and Inviting

Divided into two different zones, the relaxed den was designed for playing games, watching TV, working out, or just lounging while enjoying wonderful views of the home’s backyard and waterfront location.

From:

Industrial Bathroom

White walls create a clean backdrop for the well-designed shared downstairs bathroom in this updated waterfront retreat located in the charming town of Gig Harbor, Washington.

From:

Comfortable and Cozy

One of two bedrooms located on the first floor of this beautiful waterfront escape, this inviting bedroom has a classic panel bed with plush bedding that complements the soft and sophisticated lavender walls.

From:

Cocktails and Conversation

Separated from the den by the home’s stairwell, the guest-friendly cocktail lounge offers a wet bar, two integrated refrigerators, storage cabinets, and drawers for entertaining essentials.

From:

Year Round Outdoor Kitchen

The covered outdoor kitchen means it’s always a good time to grill even if it’s a typical rainy Pacific Northwest day. An open seating area with roomy Adirondack chairs and coffee table keeps the focus on outdoor living.

From:

Iconic Transformation

The home takes on added drama at night as interior lighting highlights sweeping windows and the steep, asymmetrical roofline.

From:

Lush Privacy

A cozy fire pit seating area is tucked into the opposite end of the property. Thoughtful landscaping keeps the space feeling private but open to the waterfront view.

From:

Along the Water’s Edge

The backyard of this year’s HGTV Dream Home overlooks Puget Sound. The deck and pergola provide a seamless outdoor living area for friends and family to enjoy breathtaking sunsets.
